Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It wasn't clean at all, there were a lot of bugs in the room, the shower didn't have hot water always. You can't sleep because of the moschitos. It doesn't have AC, it has a fan, but dusty and it is really hot in the room We reserved only for one night, and even if the property wasn't the best, our trip was amazing. You don't need luxury places to feel great, Ijen trip was amazing
If you want to stay here, don't expect too much from the conditions, it's a homestay. But the host was really nice, she helped us with the medical certifications for the trip to Ijen. Also helped us with organising an amazing trip. The property is near the train station The host's mother has also a restaurant, very cheap and good food

No windows in the room, the toilet does not work properly, there is no hot water.

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to trek Ijen. Unfortunately when we arrived it had just been closed by the government, and thankfully our host Linda was super onto it so we could change our plans! When we come back to hike Ijen, we will book this place again. Very cheap and fair, basic but all the necessities. Lovely family who own the warung attached so very easy to get meals if you wish! Overall the best part of our stay was the people here. Lovely and genuine.

Everything is great.
The room is great for the price, it has everything you need. It's just a minute walking from the train station. The hosts are really nice, they helped me book the Ijen tour, they also rent me a scooter and even have a warung with very delicious Javanese food. Fully recommend staying here during your stay in Banyuwangi.

It is not easy to find various food stalls/restaurant, but shop/warung and cafes are nearby.

Linda and her family are so nice and kind. The room is spacious and clean, and the bathroom could have been cleaner, but you get what you pay for. If you are willing to hike volcano ijen, I highly recommend booking with Linda because she offers tours for good prices and the driver picks you up in front of your room. There are many warung closeby but it's easier if you rent a scooter.

Very welcomed and hospitable family, we arrived late and were hungry but nothing was open so we got a dinner cooked especially for us in the guest house and it was very tasty.

Needs a little maintenance and clean up. Only one outlet, so phone charging or fan
Can't expect much for 50k, room was very basic with a private bathroom. In front of the train station, occasional noise but not disturbing. There's a little terrace outside the room.

Maybe toilet could be more clean but that's it.
They are really friendly . When internet from homestay was too slow for me to make calls , they offered me their own from mobile. You can feel over there as in home. Neighborhood is so calm and you feel the village life. Also great food near by.

Super kind people running this place. Very helpful. Room was clean and it's just a few steps away from the train station. Ijen tour was also a bit cheaper than in other places.

The space is simple so don't expect anything luxourious. But the facilities are clean and tidy. No AC in most of the rooms, but I was fine with just the fan. It is close to the train station, so once in a while the train will honk when it passes, but it really isn't that frequent
Great location, walking distance from the train station, in a calm street. The space is simple but clean and cozy. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Many extra services, from trips to Ijen, renting motorbikes and laundry. Great deal for travelers on a budget.

The entrance door to our room has termites.
.Is located acrosss the street from Banyuwangi kota train station. Very convenient. Host help you to plan the activities including ijen hike.

The bed seems like missing.the top mattress - bed foam is too thin that you can feel the springs of the bed and feels like you are going to sink in anytime

This place is absolutely perfect for travelers. It is so convenient and it has spacious rooms, a big bed, really delicious food, motorbike rental and a snack store. It has the perfect location right across the train station and the owners are the most lovely people. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. We also booked a tour to Ijen Volcano with them and even got to see the blue fire!! Prices for the tour are unbeatable too. Thank you for everything!

There are not many places where you can eat something so you have to order something or go the the center. It also was pretty noisy so bring earplugs

It’s cheap and basic & clean and spacious ! Very good value for the money🙏 and then there is Linda and her family, wow so warm and welcoming, helping. Their warung is really delicious, together with the whole family, mama papa kids aunts you feel in a real Indonesian home❤️ and there is this lady who can give you a massage! A really good and strong one. Finally a woman who knows what she is doing 🤩
