Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyIt's not super clean, there seem to be animals living in the roof that dislodge dirt which then falls onto the bed.
The staff is super nice and helpful, pretty location with view of rice fields and close to village with restaurants and shops.

New ZealandNot clean. No sleep - EXTREMELY NOISY location. Right next to a wedding party venue that is extra loud every evening and night until about 2am. Then... at 3:30am the nearby temple starts up it's prayer call at extremely high volume. I measured it at 4am in my room with the curtains shut and windows and doors shut. 70 decibels!!! And it is that loud pretty much all night. So unless you can handle no sleep don't come to this area.
Some of the staff were friendly.

IndonesiaNo AC. Too remote. Swimming pool is very small, breakfast ok-ish (fried rice with shredded chicken and egg + warm tea). some places need cleaning, room was not prepared when we arrived (had to wait eventhough I have send WA about time of arrival). Water runs out when rooms are fully occupied. All room types are the same regardless of the room name in booking
Value for money, surrounded by rice field and nature.

NetherlandsIt was not very comfortable, the beds had a lot of springs in them that you could feel very well and the fan doesn’t really give you enough cooling so it is quite warm in the room.
The staff was nice.

United KingdomDuring my three months traveling in Indonesia, my recent one-night stay here was quite disappointing. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, with springs poking me all night, making it impossible to sleep well. The discomfort was so bad that I needed a massage the next day. The bed was in such bad shape that I decided to leave and forfeit another night and find another place to stay. To add to the disappointment, the pool was dirty, and the staff seemed not bothered . The location was also inconveniently far from town, which meant long waits for Grab rides, usually around 17 minutes, and drivers were often reluctant to come. Overall, this stay was a regrettable exception in an otherwise enjoyable travel experience through Indonesia
The only positive thing about my stay was the staff's help in returning my forgotten chargebank.

FranceVery nice homestay with lovely staff. The location is excellent, surrounded by the beautiful nature, on the road to the Kawa Ijen and a number of waterfalls, very quiet (except for the praying singing early in the morning and a few times in a day by the mosques nearby, but the homestay is not responsible for it). The natural swimming pool is a plus. We love the place so much so we stayed for a whole week, to explore the region. Very good value for money.

New Zealandit is VERY noisy here. every traveler here is doing the overnight trekking tour so everyone wakes up at 1am and is very noisy with excited talking. the mosque across the field is also VERY loud from 4.30am and throughout the day. the beds are not comfortable (bad springs, cheap plasticky sheets and a single-sized blanket on a double bed). the upper air vents don't have any mesh so you get a lot of insects inside. the pool is mineral water from the mountain but it is very green and slimy to walk in!
the staff are the best part of this property - they were truly lovely people <3 the room was clean on arrival. breakfast is a simple cooked meal with tea or coffee. the surrounding rice fields are lovely to look at. the wifi worked well. i rented a new scooter for 100k per day

IndonesiaIt’s a room with a fan. We were hot and sticky, which is whatever on it’s own. But we got woken up at midnight by all the travellers heading to mount Ijen as well as the blasting speakers from the mosque. So we woke up the next morning, restless and sweaty.
Quiet environment. Lots of traveller wanting to explore mount Ijen. Seems like a good place to connect. Restaurant on the property so you can order from your patio, which is cool when you feel like hanging out and not heading somewhere to eat. The service was really long tho and make sure you have enough change. Sweet staff and beautiful ricefields tho

NetherlandsOf course there's always room for improvement everywhere. They could have stock up the kitchen and fridge with more food and drinks option. But with the price we paid, there's nothing to complain about. We know what we pay for.
The best stay we had in Banyuwangi. Imam, Bu Tutuk, and Imel made our stay unforgettable. They helped a lot in making our trip around Banyuwangi pleasant and possible. The room and facilities are more that what I expected with the price we paid. Definitely would recommend everyone to stay here. A nice stay in a little village with rice field surround.

ItalyMosques nearby tend to broadcast a lot during the day. It was a different, interesting experience for us, so no big deal. Someone else may not enjoy it though.
Wooden Kemiren is an economical, quiet and "feel at home" guesthouse. Imam is a wonderful host and his kindness is amazing. He can also organize tours for you, and thanks to him we had the BEST tour of Kawah Ijen, with the most amazing guides. Beyond that, the guesthouse is perfect to explore the beautiful, authentic surroundings of Banyuwangi (with a scooter Imam will arrange for you, naturally 😉). 100% recommended if you're looking for a budget option that will make you happy!
