The hostel is very clean, and the staff are lovely. The check-in process went without any problem. In addition - after we checked out, the staff agreed to let us leave our belongings there for a few hours, which made it very easy for us to sightsee - a really big plus for that! Our private room was large, had a separate wardrobe and a balcony. The private bathroom was clean and also had products for bathing. Breakfast is served in the main lobby in a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff made sure we knew where everything was and that we didn't run out of anything.

It's a cozy hostel with a nice common area and nice people. You feel comfortable and the rooms are clean and tidy. The staff helps with everything, if booking tours to Etna, busses to the airport or just a walk through the City of Catania. Nice and well equipped kitchen.

Extraordinarily friendly atmosphere, mostly due to the group breakfast setting, the energetic volunteers and the owner's extremely attentive and open attitude. Salvo truly is one of a kind -- he cares about each of his guest's welfare with evident genuineness while at the same time remaining professional and respectful. I also highly (!!!) recommend his tour of Etna, which is far more researched and immersive than regular tourist offers, a whole different league. Remote workers should note that the internet is sometimes shut down because of electric maintenance. This has nothing to do with the hostel in particular -- it's simply the way Sicily is. Regarding the social atmosphere: There is no requirement to socialize and engage with the (uniquely friendly) crowd -- I had an easy time engaging when I wanted to and finding quiet spots to rest or for concentrated work. However, this required conscious action on my part -- the default vibe at Urban Pop is definitely not anonymous. Whether you think of this as a perk or as a disadvantage of course depends on your style; in any case, it's something to keep in mind. In short, I very highly recommend Urban Pop as a friendly, well-kept hostel with a strong social option. The location is excellent as well, and Salvo knows just about everything there is to know about anything in and around Catania. If you let it, this place will truly open the door to the city for you!

Spacious living room, fully-equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi connection and lovely stuff. The owner Salvo makes you feel at home. Bonus for remote workers: standing tables. I was staying in a room without bunk beds which was nice. Cleaning was very accurate. Spacious and modern toilets (not shared ones but privates, as in an apartment). I would definitely return one day!

I went for a Thai massage one day and when I came back I wanted to relax in my bed, but couldn’t get to my room because the staff was cleaning. Of course it’s nice that they clean the hostel every day, but a heads up for not being able to lay down at that time would have been nice, then I would have made the massage at another time. But I don’t want to complain at all, just mentioning. I loved the three days in Uran Pop BnB

Salvo is an extremely nice host. You feel like home from the first moment. He asks everyday how you are and what your are planning to do that day. Breakfast ist included without extra costs and there is a lot of really nice food and love in it. I really enjoyed my stay even it was bad weather, when I stayed there. I will come back.

Some facilities could use a fix and upgrade

Location is superb. 3-5 mins walking and you're at the heart of the city with a lot of things to do and places to eat or drink. There is a small local coffee shop nearby, don't miss it. Salvo the host is an amazing Sicilian, who is super friendly and makes sure his guests feel most comfortable and welcome during the stay. I like how he's always say Ciao so cheerfully. I love the breakfast especially the homemade cakes, pesto and fresh fruit stuff, and my obsession is the tomato salad. I had a lovely stay, thanks Salvo 🫶

The hostel is worth its price and has a good location, close to the center. The room was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped and spacious. Also, kind and helpful staff. I also like that they provided a nice italian breakfast, with good cakes, salads and coffee. Surely, if I go back to Catania, I will choose this place again!

Could be nice to offer a towel without charging for it. Also could maybe just have a general tidy - seemed slightly chaotic at times.

Regret to say, but there are mosquitos spring/summer time in Sicily and no protection against them. A baldachin would be nice that guests could asks and hang above their beds based on request (cheaper and easier than installing nets on every terasse door and window.

Everything here was so squeaky clean that I didn’t feel the need to wear shoes when having breakfast. Breakfast was full of fresh vegetables and fruits from their garden that tasted like heaven. Although it was a hostel, where I shared my room with other women, I felt absolutely safe as a female solo traveller, if not safer than a hotel room by myself. The staff was super kind, friendly, helpful and full of cool people. The location was also perfect on top of all this, and they have many balconies that faces the sun after noon time, which gave me peace of mind. If I come to Sicily again, I will be staying here again.

If towels had been available (even for a small fee) it would have been perfect! 😁

Located close to the historic centre of Catania. Also close to the bus stop for the airport and other towns like Siracusa. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Really nice breakfast (vegetarian) and a nice atmosphere that made guests feel comfortable talking to each other. The room I was in was not overcrowded, with four normal (I e. not bunk) beds.
