For the majority of our stay the bathroom had no paper towels, soap, shampoo or conditioner. The top bunk beds had no where to keep belongings, such as a book or waterbottle. Would be great to get a board put in between the bed and the wall so that nothing falls down.

Loved the offerings in the shared space. The kitchen was well equiped and the projector was being put to good use each night too.

Bathroom. It's not necesserily a bad thing, but their shower is not adjustable - you constantly have to push button for the watter to come out, and you cannot adjust temperature. I also find that the room description is not accurate. First time we booked the double en-suite "with a view" and got a bit window. Second time we booked just the double en-suite - while I didn't expect much, we got a tiny window that was also facing brick wall (maybe 1.5 metes far), so there was almost no daylight. It's not about the view, but the light is pretty important. Yet my biggest negative experience the 2nd time was around the bed. Our mattress was super thin and placed on a metal-framed bed-frame. While I am not a "fancy sleeper", I could feel the metal slates every time I turn when sleeping and was a bit falling through the gaps of the bed frame when sitting.

This is my second stay at this hostel (private room with washroom) in a 2-year window. The location is great - far enough from the noise and crowd yet close to the subway line and within 15-minute walking distance to the central station. There is also a huge grocery store around the corner. I like how the hostel has own packed kitchen - you could easily cook there or store your items in the fridge. Considering my "negative" part of the review, I would still come back to this hostel, but would be careful with my room choice now.

The location is 20 min walk from Amsterdam central station however the hotel is near to Waterlooplein Metro which is easy to transport to many attractions The hotel's staff are helpful and super friendly. We lived in Ecomama for 3 days and had a great experience even though the room that we stayed in was not soundproof as much the hotel also left earplugs for us. The room is spacious and clean. I would recommend other friends to stay in this hotel.

Unfortunately the room itself was where I had problems. I was in one of the shared dorms, and even though the beds were okay, they were very small and there wasn't a functional outlet by my bed at all. The beds were also packed in pretty closely so there is no where to put your things, except the lockers that are too small for a backpack. The other guests were not respectful, and although this isn't really the problem with the hostel, I think there should have been more regulatory rules that were actually enforced.

The place was very clean and the facilities were nice. There is a kitchen you can use as well as a general living area to hang out in. The bathrooms and showers were fairly clean, and although there weren't many of them I never needed to wait to use one.

Staff are extremely friendly. The vibe in common area was chill and good to make friends there. Kitchen is well equipped. They have lockers but you have to bring your own padlocks or else the paid lockers are €1/hr

I would like to share a positive experience of staying at Ecomama hostel. It was always clean and quiet here, which created a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation. I especially liked the variety of mini-events held here, as well as the presence of a cozy café. The girls' room provided good amenities, including a hairdryer and straightener, which was very convenient. Also, the common cute large hall, where you can relax and socialize with other guests, is an attractive feature. The hostel's excellent location adds extra points to it

The room was quite bare in comparison with the decor in the common spaces, so we only really went in there to sleep. We'd booked a cheap basic room and we got what we were expecting (it looked like the pictures) but they could easily add a bit of colour to the room or a picture on the wall to make it a bit prettier. The bottles for shampoo/conditoner/shower gel were all empty. I didn't realise until I was already in the shower, so I managed without them, and I'm sure the staff would have refilled them if we'd asked.

The common area had a good atmosphere and nice decor, everything was very relaxed and friendly, and the place has a good ethos. The location was fairly central, easy to get everywhere in Amsterdam, and there was a market right by the nearest metro station with a few alternative/hippy style clothes stalls that I was really pleased to find. There's also an ekoplaza (organic supermarket) close by. The room was comfy and had everything we needed, and there were a couple of nice touches like ear plugs and a map with recommendations of places to visit.
