Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe drain was blocked and I could not use the shower. You need to know in advance that there is no hairdryer.
The interior of the hotel was stylish and impeccably clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and even offered to temporarily hold my luggage for me. Ideal location for sightseeing.

BrazilMy room did not have a bathroom only for me, I understand that was reflected on the price, but I wish it was more explicitly informed when I booked. I never had to wait to use the bathroom so it didn't bother me but I can see how it could bother someone. Since it is a historic building, they do not have an elevator, so be ready to face A LOT of steps on your way to your room.
The location was perfect, great restaurants and bars nearby. The cleaning service was great, everything was constantly in order. There was also a shared kitchen which was clean and well equipped.

AustraliaNo hot water the first night - asked to be fixed the next day, which they tried but it was a little worrying seeing a reception girl and then a handy man trying to fix a gas bottle inside the kitchen… at some point gas was leaking and we could see a fire on the kitchen floor… You need to walk through two rooms to get through the bedrooms - not ideal for privacy
Great location, big rooms, clean, welcoming staff, beautiful designed staircase and kitchen

United StatesThere are towels in the bathroom but not replaced every day. During checkout, the person who checked us out seemed upset or not in the mood to talking; Only Yes or No has been provided to questions which could be better answered through a conversation.
Location is great. Very accessible on major sites within Lisbon that most tourist wants to visit. Walking distance to Train and Metro station. Accessible via Bus and Tram. There are amazing restaurants around the area as well. The room size/bed size is decent. Very good experience on check in since the staff who received us is very friendly. During our stay, the staff are very accommodating as well. Overall a good place to stay!

United KingdomThe front door is a little awkward, it’s not too easy too open and it’s very narrow up a large step, I think I hit myself on it every time I went in/out. Reception are always quick to buzz you in though which is good. Also the stairs are no joke, my room was fourth floor and I was out of breath every time.
It’s overall a really nice place, clean and nice design, both in the rooms and communal areas. Beautiful tiles on the stairs gave you something to look at while you climb

CanadaThe entrance to the hotel are a pretty steep and quite dark set of stairs. I understand the impossibility of installing an elevator in such old buildings, but the climb upstairs each time we returned to the hotel was quite a hard one. The shower was quite small and hard to get around in.
Location is absolutely amazing! Right by the Praça do Comercio, Museums, main avenues and all touristic attractions in the heart of Lisbon. Also very close to Bairro Alto, Castelo de Sao Jorge, Santa Justa, etc and many Carris line 28 stops nearby (Sé, the cathedral one is closest).

FranceOnly one small window for the entire room and it looks onto the back street. It did feel it lacked some daylight but we were never there during the day anyway. The room did seem as if it could be a bit cleaner mostly due to the fact the building is made out of bricks. One of the brick arches seemed to disintegrate so it left some dust on the floor (probably after the cleaning had been done).
Incredible location of the hotel, 2min walk for Praça do Comércio which was ideal. In the street you can find different type of restaurants (for breakfast / brunch, lunch and diner). The staff were very helpful. The room was very spacious with double bathroom.

United StatesThe room was a bit run down. There was peeling paint on the walls, some smell in the bathroom, old windows with drafts of cold air at night. It wasn't all too bad, more in character of the old building. Also, the room was a bit noisy with people talking on the street at late hours, restaurants fans humming, etc. The bed and pillows were okay, but not super comfy.
Prime location in the historic center of Lisbon, close to all major attractions. The building itself has lots of character, with traditional tiles on the walls and old staircases. The staff is super friendly and helpful. There is a well equipped shared kitchen.

Location, beautifully restored old Portuguese, multilevel house with interior tile decorated walls, fully equipped modern kitchen for guest use, comfortable bed, great staff. Good heating/AC.
