It was a large room with a little area off the bedroom with a table and two chairs. But that space had very poor lighting. The place was clean and had free parking on site. The owner was really nice and interested in talking to her guests and offering advice on where to go for food and sights etc.
I would give a rating of good+

We visited Gyeongju for one night to see the local sights and it was exactly what we needed. The room has its own bathroom and it is a hanok type building with beautiful garden with flowers. Everything is about 30 minutes by foot. Close to convinient stories and restaurants. The old couple was friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time.

Pretty town and worth seeing with wonderful restaurants but the burial mounds visit is a must. Very well organized with information centres.
The Hanok village is also interesting and has great restaurants.

I wish I had stayed at least another day to take in everything Gyeongju has to offer. Going with a guide who drove us around and knew all the ins and outs of restaurants and other places to visit was key to making our short visit so memorable.

In total spent around four days in Gyeongju and the surrounding area. The main part of the city is pretty typical of Korean cities. The main attractions are to the south. It is steeped in history and a great place to learn about Korean heritage. Tombs of former kings, partially recreated palaces, stunning bridges, fields of colourful flowers and some streets with fantastic restaurants and shops. Much of the historic area is laid out in beautifully maintained parks and gardens. A highlight and one of our favourite places on our 2.5 weeks trip to Korea. There are two national parks near by offering good walking opportunities. We undertook one short walk to Chilbul-am temple which was incredibly scenic.

Tourist area. But it was awesome. Lots of local tourists too so you know it's a good place to go to. Good food too. If you love history, you will love this place because you get to learn all about Korean history and the old kingdom.

Bus travel around the sights is very easy with a Tmoney card and Naver maps downloaded we were able to easily get around the sights, of which there are many. Definitely recommend the Observatory and the bridge (go to the bridge at night it's stunning).
Nothing not to like
The house itself had everything you need for a pleasant stay, even if the hanok is very traditional. The owners preserved the beauty of the house well.
It is located further from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area, hence you get a good night's rest.
The owners were incredibly accomodating, explained what we should see in Gyeongju, recommended a great local place for dinner and even arranged a taxi to come and take us to the train station in the morning.
A wonderful experience!
We travelled across Korea on our trip starting in Seoul and gradually heading down to Busan, this was by far the best hotel we stayed in and also the best value. The rooms were finished to a high standard, roomy (bathroom very spacious also) and very clean.
I am from England and would say it would easily equate to a 4 start hotel in England, if not 5.
Staff were welcoming and very happy to help with directions to places and booking of taxis etc.
The hotel is very well located, well agenced and clean. Everything has been thought in order to make the stay confortable and still very traditional. You can stay also in the garden there are many places where to sit and enjoy during the evening !
The owners are so nice, speak English, prepared for us traditional Korean breakfast and changed the menu according to my diet. I really loved the experience here !!
It’s a small nice and cozy guest house, feels like home. The host lady js very welcoming and speaks English. They have complimentary breakfast which is good enough. The location is best. Many of the main attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. Close to bus stop as well. They also have free lockers to store luggage in case you are checking out but leaving Gyeongju late.
Spacious, well equipped room, comfortable bed. Awesome views of the lake and amusement park. Hotel is near to some notable attractions and scenic walks. Breakfast spread was great. Staff were friendly and proactive, and tried their best to make my stay as comfortable as they could as the hotel had no air conditioning and facilities were closed for renovation. (as of mid March 2023)
Surprisingly good hotel, probably geared to business originally, but excellent also for tourists. Short walk to all the attractions in Gyeongju, and right next to the express bus station, but no discernible noise from it. Staff were very friendly although had limited English. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide range of Korean and European foods; both hot and cold.
Free Breakfast with strawberries and fruits (which is not that easy to find while travelling in south korea), the location which is quite center et close to restaurants and bus station for Bulguksa. It's also near to the intercity bus station (10 min by walk). Both the owner are so kind and very patient with kids. They were also really helpful whenever needed.
Highly recommend! Beautiful, clean, and comfortable property, with traditional rooms and beds, a modern bathroom with strong hot water, located in the center of town and walking distance to the historic sights of Gyeongju. Home cooked traditional Korean breakfast. The hosts/owners are lovely people, feels like staying with friends/family.
Traditional hanok house in an alley off the most traditional street in Gyeongju. Great location for tourist attractions, restaurants etc. Nice room, traditional with futons plus all usual amenities. Underfloor heating and AC. Common area with microwave and sink. Helpful owner. Washing machine for laundry.
This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in Korea in terms of value for money, comfort, after-sales service, and breakfast.
If you are going to Gyeongju for vacation or a conference and need a central location, comfortable rooms with top-notch facilities, and a moderate budget, go to the SUGAR hotel...
I really liked the design look of the hotel and its location was brilliant. A lovely greeting and check out - in English (understandably limited).
Free coffee and as clean as you could ever wish for we were glad we picked this hotel over some of the other more Korean orientated ones in Gyeongju.
The guesthouse is hosted in a typical korean house.
The room is very small but comfy and clean.
Breakfast was very good and with several choices.
Position is really close to the main tourist spots of Gyeongju.
Staff was very helpful and kind.
The best hostel I had in South Korea! This apartment is cozy and clean, have a very good breakfast, much privacy in the dorms, a lot of facilities (my favorite was the feet-massage-device). Highly recommended
Perfect accommodation in Gyeongju!
Great location, close to all the major sights and to the bus station, super spacious room and bathroom, and very clean.
Great value for money.
Great location and less than 10 min walking to the express bus station, easy access to the main sights of Gyeongju. Room was nice and clean and has everything needed.
