Open from April 2015, Hotel Gracery Shinjuku offers comfortable rooms, free WiFi and a restaurant, only a 5-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station’s east exit. Seibu Shinjuku Station is a 3-minute walk....

Good central location, shops and restaurants directly underneath. Very close to the train station. Hotel was very clean, cleaners did a great job! New water bottles and toiletries were added to the room after every clean. The Godzilla statue on the roof is awesome, and all of the small Godzilla figures/statues throughout the hotel are a nice touch. The themed Godzilla snacks at the bar looked great.

FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is a big city and therefore attracts big city prices and tourists. We did the usual touristy stops in Shibuya and Harajuku. It was extremely busy so decided to drop into Shinjuku instead which was less busy. Booked tickets for the WB Making of Harry Potter tour which exceeded expectations. Highly recommend! Ueno Park is worth a stop. Also stayed in Akihabara (Electric Town) worth a look if you are into Anime/Manga. Food is excellent in Tokyo. Used both JR rail passes and Suica for local trains. Highly recommend checking out Minato Mirae in Yokohama, there is excellent shopping, roller coaster, cable cars, Cup Noodle Museum and more. 45 mins - 1 hour on JR line from Tokyo (Akihabara/Ochanimizu stations).

World class city with too much to see in just one trip.

World class city with too much to see in just one trip. Food culture up there with London and Paris, perhaps even better in terms of quality and price. I would avoid Shibuya Crossing area as it is touristy and very crowded like Times Square unless you like that sort of thing. Things to recommend: Ginza, Ueno, Shinjuku, Roppongi, Team Labs, day trips to the countryside and food just about anywhere.

Tokyo is like the best version an Asian city can be - super clean (makes Europe look filthy). No rubbish despite not having public garbage bins. No smoking on the streets. 37m people and great air quality with relatively low levels of motor traffic. Awesome metro system fully available in English. Spend time in Ginza for upmarket shopping and something more like a modern New York without the dirt and homelessness and crime. Visit Shubaya and Shinjuku for overstimulating with lights, sound and people traffic. But go 2 streets away for relative peace and quiet. Vegetarians may struggle as Japan unveils the fallacy that the world is ready yo go vegan. It's raw fish and fried meat, meat, meat. Salads tend to be shredded lettuce or pickles. Be ready to be patient with Japanese people. English is very much a foreign language. Google translate comes in handy. And try to contain your anger when you wait in a restaurant queue with 13 or so other people while there is seating for 25 people free inside.

9 Days of Neon Lights and Ancient Temples

9 Days of Neon Lights and Ancient Temples Tokyo is a city that pulsates with energy. Our 9-day adventure was a whirlwind of neon lights, delicious eats, and cultural immersion. While we squeezed in a day trip to Kyoto for a temple fix (Fushimi Inari-taisha was unreal!), Tokyo stole the show. Be Prepared to Walk (and Walk Some More) This city is best explored on foot. Pack comfy shoes because you'll be clocking serious miles. My pedometer practically exploded by day three! Fuelling the Hustle Tokyo's food scene is legendary. From steaming ramen to melt-in-your-mouth sushi, we ate like kings. Sleep is for the Weak (But Coffee is Your Friend) Let's be honest, jet lag and sightseeing don't always make for a good night's sleep. But fear not, coffee shops are plentiful and the perfect pick-me-up to power through the day. Highlights (same old news) - Shibuya Crossing: Witnessing the human sea at this iconic crossing is a must. - Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden: A serene oasis amidst the urban jungle. - Tokyo Tower: Panoramic views of the city from this iconic landmark. Kyoto Temples One day in Kyoto wasn't enough, but it was enough to be awestruck by the serene beauty of Fushimi Inari-taisha. The endless red torii gates are an unforgettable sight. Overall Tokyo is an assault on the senses in the best way possible. It's a city that never sleeps and offers something for everyone. Just be prepared to walk, eat like a local, and embrace the lack of sleep (coffee will be your best friend). I left with a full memory card, a happy belly, and a yearning to return.

People are generally helpful but be aware that there are bad people as well. My friend and I once in Shibuya experienced a man eagerly wanted to help us to buy the train ticket and he snatched the money from my hand and bought the ticket and quickly took the change and cough heavily onto it and told us to give him all the change... It was quite scary. Overall it is a good place to visit but the train systems are a bit complicated. I could only find the JR train map and there are so many private company train lines and they don't even have a map. There are even different stations sharing the same numbers which is confusing. it is hot everywhere, they are very conservative in use of Air-conditioning, we had terrible experiences at the hands of new bangladesh migrants who have Japanese residence permits now! . Local Japanese people are very very nice and hospitable.

    Tokyo was beautiful and amazing!

Tokyo was beautiful and amazing! I did not have nearly enough time to explore it the way it deserved to be explored. You need AT LEAST 5-7 days to explore all of Tokyo. Unfortunately, due to the length of my trip I only had 2 days and missed out on so much. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this city to anyone who comes to Japan. Be ready for big crowds and lots of shopping!

Location is great and safe. 3 metro stations nearby make it easy to reach everywhere in reasonable time. E.g. Ginza, Tokyo station and Tsujiki are around 15 mins, Ueno and Asakusa are within 20 mins and Shinjuku & Shibuya is around 30 mins. Convenient stores, restaurants and drug stores are in walking distance. The hotel provides amenities and facilities we may need when traveling, which is super sweet. Services are great, the front desk is very helpful with the guest's requirements. Room is not spacious but equipped with everything.

This felt like an older capsule hotel, but I found it to be pretty cozy. One of the cheapest accommodations you can get in Tokyo, and it’s in the active area of Ueno. Ameya Yokocho Market is like a 5 minute walk, Ueno park around 7-10 minute walk, and Ueno station around 10-15 minute walk. There is a metro station about two minutes away from building. WiFi was good. There are toilets and sinks on every floor. Washer and dryers are available in building. There’s like a work or desk area on the third floor, but it was pretty small.

The location of the hotel is great if you would like to be central to the tourist attractions. It's a short walking distance to Shinjuku station and also there is Tochomae subway station only few hundred metres from the hotel. The rooms were quite spacious in comparison to most hotels in Tokyo. The view from the room was great and depending on which side/floor your room is located you can see Mt Fuji on a clear day. A 7-11 and a Family Mart just below the hotel made it very convenient.

I loved the location, it's near two Metro stations that can get you around tokyo. There are also many shops & restaurants around the hotel. It has a local vibe compared to staying in popular areas like Shinjuku or Shibuya. I also sent out my luggage to the airport in advance so having to carry them wasn't a problem. I also loved the staff everyone was really nice and accommodating especially Masuda & Kuroki. The room I booked was perfect for a solo traveler like me and I loved the bed.

The hotel had a fantastic location, not too close to the busiest areas of Tokyo like Shibuya or Shinjuku and not so far that travel would be a hassle. I had a fantastic experience at the hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful and the living areas were exceptionally clean. There's a 7-11 right opposite the hotel so you have nothing to worry if you need anything 24x7. This place exceeded my expectations and I'm considering to stay here again when I visit Tokyo in the future!

Gotanda is one of the best places to stay in Tokyo in my opinion. The hotel is on the Yamanote line, it is centrally located with easy access to Shinagawa, Meguro, Ebisu and you can get to Shibuya and Shinjuku and other hubs easily. Property is right next to the train station and there are lovely restaurants, shops and bars close by. Staff were excellent and very professional and helpful. APA hotels are everywhere in Japan. You know what you will be getting. They're clean, comfortable and affordable. This was a perfect example of that. If, however, you are expecting American sized rooms - you need to actually do some research on Japanese accommodation. It's not going to happen. Capsule hotels exist for a reason... Tokyo does not have affordable and spacious hotel rooms.

Great capsule hotel in a quiet location in Shinjuku. Close to everything, great staff, comfy private, quiet space with good shared spaces and breakfast.

Was so close to everything. Only a few minutes walk to either Shibuya station or Yoyogi Park and Harajuku. Hotel Lobby was nice with cafe onsite
