Hotels near La Rochelle - Île de Ré Airport - LRH, La Rochelle

The lady owner was delightful. The location to La Rochelle airport was very convenient. The area immediately around the property is business and commerce but venture another mile/ kilometer and there are lovely coastal views and beaches.The breakfast was fantastic with home made Brioche , freshly made pancakes and home made conserves as well as many different purchased confitures. I hope to return again. Safe and secure locked parking area.

Conveniently located for La Rochelle and Ile De Rey expeditions, etc. A tidy little village, mix of modern and historic buildings. The village centre has a nice cafe also a pizza takeaway. For everything else a 5 minute drive takes you to supermarket and shops. Though there's nothing much to gawp at you'll feel safe and welcome.

La Rochelle is a beautiful town - easy to get around on foot, plenty to see ,lovely and great variety of shops shop , harbour is beautiful,we were there at the end of November and it was well worth the visit.Only there for one day so didn’t do sightseeing only the shops! We plan to return for a longer stay.

L'Houmeau is a small coastal village area not far from La Rochelle. It was good to visit the larger spectacular seaside/port town, but very welcoming to get home to the smaller friendly environment of L'Houmeau with its local shops and restaurants. It's a very smart and clean environment and if you are lucky enough to live there - very well done.

Not much to add to what I have put in my property review. La Rochelle is a picturesque old sea port with a lot of history (a main reason for visiting was to research for a novel I am writing about the Huguenots-this city played a major part in the 16th and 17th century French wars of religion) great architecture, outstanding fresh food market speciality sea food. The salt water aquarium is world class, much better than the one in the Berlin zoo which I saw last year. UK fights to the small local airport are from Stansted only, I think (check). Easy access by train from Paris or Nantes. I would think carefully about driving here as parking is VERY restricted in the old town but there are no doubt possibilities if you are staying further out, and the buses are very good. Great place, I hope to visit again.

If I had seen a picture if the cabin I would not have booked the pictures shown in the booking site mostly show larger cabins and ones on the outside edge if the site where we were they were too close together and you could hear every sound any neighbour made
