The apartment is at the far end of the strip to the wharf (2 mins walk and you are on the main strip then 10 mins walk to the wharf). It was spacious with a big comfortable bed with side tables. There are 2 sofas to sit or sleep on. The much needed air con was working very well. Although we did not cook, the kitchen was equipped with all the utensils you need to cook, minus a kettle but you can use the pot to boil water. Refillable filtered water is provided. There is also a big refrigerator with freezer which was great to store cold drinks including salt and sugar (due to ants I presumed). Yes, there were tiny ants walking around but not really a bother.. We loved the little balcony with a sink to do some laundry of especially our swimsuits, etc. The only thing lacking is a drying rack. However, there is a small shelf with a bar to hang clothes. Walter was especially nice and helpful. He helped us book a tour/transfer from the airport for $90, all inclusive of airport pickup/hotel drop off and a tour to 3 places of interest (Los Gemelos, Lava tunnels and El Chato ranch - $7.50 entrance per person which includes boots and a guide). Although the driver spoke very little English, it was enough for us as we did not need someone to do a lot of explanation with everything we see. We enjoyed the tour very much. On the last day, as we need to get to the port at 6am to catch the ferry, Walter has kindly called to book a taxi for us with a surcharge which we paid to the taxi driver. Very comfy beds, air conditioning was almost too cold! Which was a real treat after travelling through Central America/places with no A/C. Checking in and out was very easy. Everything provided, towels, shampoo etc. Kitchen also upstairs- not as complete as a hostel kitchen but has everything you need (also instead of cooking yourself, much better to go get the empanadas from down the road anyway!), wifi was great too. Staff were fabulous too, our Español is not great, and it was no problem!

Nelyza is such a sweetheart and helps you with everything. It feels like a home away from home. She even took my to see some places around the island and let me keep my things at her place while I was visiting other island.

The booking was a good value. I really appreciated the AC units and it was great to have a kitchen, though a can opener and some measuring cups would have been a nice addition. It was also nice to have a living room area where we could hang out as a family, but then each have our own bedrooms.
