I was only in the charming historical part of the time.
I was only in the charming historical part of the time. There were few cars and a very free feeling as people were on foot and riding bicycles. I could go everywhere I wanted to go on foot. However, I never came across a city map which could have kept me from getting lost. The buses were very quiet. The cuisine was varied and well-prepared. I ate all my meals in the Gao Indian restaurant on Kurze Geismar Strasse because it was the best Indian restaurant I have ever experienced. I didn't visit any sites because I was doing research in the university's archives.

Attractive old houses in the town centre, the market place with the "Goose Girl" statue, you can walk around the city wall, two free botanical gardens are worth a visit. It's compact enough to walk around, or the buses are reliable. Around the town the woods are lovely, lots of paths, full of beautiful wild flowers in spring, green and peaceful in the summer. I saw red squirrels! If you're looking for a friendly church I recommend the Baptisten Gemeinde in Burgerstrasse (Sundays at 10.30 am).

They cheated us for our money! Very bad service! We were late for the check in, because of the traffic. The owner would not wait an hour for us to come and told us to find another hotel. They charges us anyway and will not give us any of our money back. Worst service ever! Worst experince ever! Do not book this hotelkrisDenmark - 8.0Scored 8.0

No time to take a look at the city this time! But I have been there at least three times before, an interesting town - and the only one in Germany where I have got introduction brochures in Norwegian!

Gottingen is very nice old town with fantastic science background - it produced 44 Nobel laureates. City centre is very nice to walk, to get coffee, some shopping, a lot of art objects and lovely spots to take a photo. For 1-2 day tour is enough. If you are in Gottingen your must-see is St.Jacob's chirch and it's 600m bell tower, where you can get on the top level and observe Gottingen from a bird fly level - fantastic view! I really enjoyed the open market and the vibrant town life.
I really enjoyed the open market and the vibrant town life. The streets were interesting and the university history was fascinating. I liked the statues of mathematicians that celebrate the towns history of academic excellence.

The staff was friendly and very helpful, always smiling yet professional, the interior design of the hotel and the rooms was very interesting: minimal with artistic influences. The breakfast was amazing with a large variety of fresh fruit, bread, salmon, etc. The rooms and the hotel super clean. Everything was excellent with even more highlights in the details. For example the luxurious bathgel and shampoo and the amazingly comfortable beds. We really enjoyed a stay and will definitely come again.

We arrived at Göttingen after 9pm but there was a great American style restaurant next door to the hotel, which serves food until late. Very useful! The service prepared a full dinner table in a cozy corner, and the evening was much better at the hotel than it could have been at any bar or restaurant. Breakfast is another highlight - I would recommend guests to plan at least an hour to enjoy it!
