it's a small city with good connection to other parts of Slovenian coast; the city center is very nice with plenty of cafes and restaurants, we enjoyed the cycle paths and cycle roads to Koper and Isola; we prefer to stay in Izola comparing to Portoroz and Koper and it's not so crowdy and everything is close also walking or using bicycle

Izola is a small jewelry box.
Izola is a small jewelry box. With narrow streets, the delicious aromas of Mediterranean cuisine can be felt during an evening walk. We can meet very nice people here among the hosts. We ate fantastic food at the restaurants along the coast. You can eat fresh seafood straight from the sea. We are returning guests here and it was certainly not the last time we visited the town.TundeHungary - 10Scored 10

Lovely cosy seaside town. We enjoyed our stay as there were not many tourists, it is not crowded not even near the sea (not like Portoroz). The beaches are with stones, but that is ok if you have water shoes. You can find all the amenities you need in Izola - shops, market, post office, restaurants, pharmacy, bakery.... It is possile to travel to nearby towns by bus or by boat - Portoroz, Piran, Koper. To Koper is also a nice was from Izola along the sea or it is also possible to rent a bike.

Small quiet town. Many good restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, bars. Excellently built cycling routes. The surrounding towns of Portorož, Piran, Piranske soline, Koper are accessible by bicycle. Friendly people. Nice beaches, clean sea. Many options for trips to the surrounding area (Trieste, Miramare Castle, Sistiana/Italy or Umag, Poreč, Rovinj, Pula/Croatia or Lipica, Postojna, Ljubljana, Tolmin, Bled/Slovenia)

Nice place.
Nice place. But look closely to the menu before entering a restaurant. Get a table in those where the locals with sweatpants and flip-flops are. Water is very clear and warm. Nice landscapes in the region. Leave Portoroz alone (unless you are a gambler).

Perfect for biking, hiking and swimming.
Perfect for biking, hiking and swimming. We took our own bikes with us and enjoyed Parenzana trail to the max! Izola is maybe the best choice since it has lovely old city center, few beaches which are quite nice.

Dobi is a great warmhearted and engaged host so it was nearly a family holiday! The Breakfast is so lovely! Fresh fruits from her own garden, homemade marmalade, local Cheese, Sausage, Bacon. The apartment has two rooms: a living room with kitchen and a bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed and a bunk bed. The kitchen is fairly well equipped and has an induction stove top. We were welcomed by the bottle of local white wine and chocolates. The kitchen is fully equipped, and all those "small" things are already there (olive oil, sugar, tea, coffee). Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. Staff is nice and helpful too. Reception isn't always manned, but the ice cream/pastry shop next to the breakfast room is part of the hotel and there is always someone there to help you. The unit was super spacious and had everything we needed. I would go back to Izola just to stay in the same unit again!
