Lala Land Lodge, hotel in Kizimkazi

Lala Land Lodge has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Kizimkazi.

The bungalow i booked is beautiful, very spacious with interesting round layout, unique roof/ceiling. There is a small private deck outside surrounded with lots of greenery. Private bathroom. Bright and cozy interior. Very conveniently the kitchen is open all day long and the food is delicious. Hosts are super friendly. Restaurant, pool and chilling area is facing the ocean and the most amazing sunset/s. You can access the ocean going down the steps. Otherwise you can enjoy the amazing view onto the ocean and fishermen passing by on local sailing boats from above. Thats magical. Boat to Pungume ( Safari Blue) takes less time to reach sand bank so its a good spot to start the trip. Massage with Frida was a top notch. Thank you all for wonderful stay! We will be back.

Promised Land Lodge, hotel in Kizimkazi

Located on the South Coast and 0.6 mi away from the village of Kizimkazi Mtendeni, Promised Land Lodge faces the sea and is surrounded by a tropical garden.

Most relaxing place I know on the planet. Locally built, owned an run lodge in a not very developed part of Zansibar. Not for people who wants parties and beach life, but if you're after beautifull surrondings, friendly environment and comfy, relaxing days this place is highly recommended. Food selection is a little limited, room standard is not european, and its about as remote as you get on Zansibar, but none of this matters to me.

Aya Beach Resort, hotel in Kizimkazi

Located in Kizimkazi, a few steps from Kizimkazi Mkunguni Beach, Aya Beach Resort provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, private parking, a garden and a shared lounge.

On the way back from our boat tour we sailed down the coast while our guide pointed out all the hotels. I can honestly say that, from the boat vantage point, there wasn't another one that I'd prefer to be at. Several were far more swanky, but Aya Beach Resort has a good combination of low-key accommodation, and a nice location overlooking a wonderful beach, which also acts as the hub of the local community. The hotel is quite ragged around the edges, which wouldn't suit everyone. The accommodation is fairly rudimentary, but the bed is comfy, there's a sitting area, a patio and AC (essential here). The shower-room is basic but adequate. The restaurant serves excellent food, but a limited menu, so after six days it's hard to avoid repeats. The atmosphere is relaxed. Around the hotel there is very little to do, which is great for a few days, but beyond six I think I'd want something more. The hotel purports to be 4-star, but this wouldn't bear comparison if we were in Europe. However, despite some expected developing world shortcomings, overall we feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled on this little gem. Not perfect, but jolly nice.

Salida Beach, hotel in Kizimkazi

Located in Kizimkazi, a 9-minute walk from Kizimkazi Mkunguni Beach, Salida Beach has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

We stayed one night at Salida Beach. It is located a bit outside of the centre of Kizimkazi. By scooter, it takes you around 5 minutes to get to the main road and the main beach. The room was perfect. Every room has a little balcony or a terrace. It was superclean, the waterpressure was strong, and there was even a mini-fridge in the room. The ventilator is very fast and in gerneall the room was very well temperatured, no AC necessary at all. The wifi was stable and fast. The place has a generator, so there are no problems with powercuts. The area of Salida Beach is quite big, with a lot of trees which keep the place cool. There are some sunbeds directly at the coastline on the small cliff over the water, where you can watch the sunset or just relax. There is also a hammock. There is no sand beach, but stairs lead you down to the ocean if you want to swim, which I highly recommend, especially if it is high tide. The breakfast is out of this world. Everyone gets a big plate of fruits, then the eggs as you want them with guacamole and bread and 2 pancakes. For drinks, they had coffee, tea, and a very very good juice. There is the opportunity to have dinner at Salida Beach as well, but we did not try that. The staff was super friendly, they welcomed us, showed us the place, and were helpful with all our questions. We will definitely come again😁

This place has an amazing ambient and a beautiful soul! It was like a hub for the coolest people from every country, looking for a peaceful, extremely relaxed vacation in a bit of wilderness, heartfelt conversations with alcohol next to the fire… it’s all in the package, and as a bonus you get one of the best teams - owners and staff members that are right there for you literally every minute. Thank you all guys- Benjamin, Annick, Cliffton, Melania, Elisabeth and others whose names we did not get to know;) You were all so amazing that even after two weeks it was a pity to leave. We look forward to meeting you all again! PS. A big thanks to Cliffton for recommending us Malaika, We enjoyed it to the fullest ;-)

It’s a very quiet and enjoyable place and you can book lots of activities from there but overall there is not much going outside the hotels. The public beach doesn’t have any good restaurants or shops so you’re pretty much tied to your resort.

The staff and the hotell facilties are the absulute best. The location is more quiet then other places, they do not have a beach like Kendwa but it you are just looking to relax a couple of days this does not matter. It is like on a little cliff, sooo nice!

Kizimkazi is a village, although in fact there are 2 distinct and separate areas, with 2 beaches. The rest of the area is comprised of large, private self-contained resorts with their own private stairways. There is not much to explore, but boat owners offer big-game fishing and dolphin-watching. There are only 2 restaurants, although some of the private resorts offer their restaurants to the public; but at a price. Hardly any touting which is nice; 3 or 4 days is probably sufficient to see all there is to see.

Remote, quiet place with super friendly staff, good food and enough relax space, sunbeds and hamocks to enjoy this little piece of paradise. By the way: I read in some comment that supposedly water bottles would cost 10$. We paid 2$ for a large bottle, which I think is fair given transportation etc.. I recommend asking the hotel for the pick-up from the airport, as it is not easy to find for anybody not familiar with the last kilometer. All in all we had a wonderful stay and are very grateful to the marvellous team at Kusini!

A great location - quiet, right on the beach, and within a large bay. Beautiful views from the shoreline and the garden that surrounds the hotel is very well designed and diligently tended. It provides an eden-like atmosphere. The food was delicious and very well presented by smiling, attentive, and joyous staff. As a very seasoned traveller with high expectations, our stay exceeded them in almost all areas. Zanzibar is on the up, and I would recommend going now before it becomes busy!

Very friendly staff, everyone is ready to help if there are any problems! The vibe: hakuna matata! I will definitely recommend everyone I know to stay at Promised Land Lodge during their ZNZ visit. Just keep in mind that it isn’t near big cities or so, but that was the reason we booked our stay there. Quiet place, friendlier people than in Stone Town (definitely!), all sorts of activities that you can do, forest vibes. I fell in love with Kizimkazi :) Asante sana for everything ❤️

Loved it! Far from the madding crowd, peace and tranquility with amazing sunsets. I liked round bungalows that resembles traditional african house. I haven’t seen anything like that around Zanzibar. Nice space with private bathroom and balcony. Neat and Clean. Very cool owners. Inspiring. Very kind staff. I have finally slept well and forgot about the whole world. Lala Land is indeed a good place to dream. Thank you guys for a beautiful time! Will be back!

Magnificent location. It's far from most things but that's precisely why you go there. It has a host of great facilities - pool, yoga, beach lounges and direct ocean/beach access. Unrivalled sunset location. The front desk staff were ok - a bit distant - but the rest of the staff were wonderful: the perfect balance of professional and personal - I felt like a brother and guest at the same time. I love the outdoor shower! And the food was great.

Mama Root is the perfect getaway in Zanzibar. The property is right on one of the most gorgeous and less touristy beaches, the hotel is small and intimate, the included breakfast is great (lots of fresh fruits fruits and your choice of eggs or pancakes), and the owners and staff are amazing and always checking in to make sure all your needs are met. This place is truly an amazing find. No notes.

The food was always freshly prepared and delicious! The iced ginger and lemongrass tea, which is on the house, was the best drink we had in Zanzibar!! The room was beautifully styled, and the outdoor shower was such a wonderful experience! On top of all of this, the hotel staff were always super friendly, kind and polite! We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you to the Kizikula team!

Lovely lodge. If you want to really get disconnected and away from city life, this is the place! All the huts are within 200ft of the beach and the lodge is isolated and quiet. But an easy walk into the local village of Kizimkazi, or a taxi ride to Jambiani, Paje and other haunts. Hotel owners are gracious and attentive and the staff delightful!

This is a very nice, very small paradise in the end of the world. Food was good, people very warmly welcoming and friendly. We only left the property for snorkeling right in front of the hotel. If you are looking for something that is NOT a huge resort and few people to enjoy the beautiful view on the sea and colours, this is great.
