This was our third visit to Zematt. Twice previously we’d come skiing, and it is hard to find better, particularly for long reds. This is our first visit in spring, and although we went in May when many things are shut, there were still plenty to do, and very few crowds.
It is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year, with plenty to do and see, provided you like the outdoors.
Do not miss the (admittedly expensive) train ride to Gornergrat. It is world-class for views.

This is a magical town that you must go to once in your lifetime. Whilst it is generally regarded as a ski town, we thoroughly enjoyed to town and its hospitality when we travelled there in May. It is so pretty; the people are friendly and it is a very unique experience.

First and foremost, all the key highlights within Zermatt, are easily walkable. The trip on the cogwheel train appears to be busy regardless of season so we paid for priority seating. It made a difference! We boarded before the crowds and chose very comfortable seats on the right side of the train. We had investigated places for lunch and dinner prior to going-that really helped! Reservations for dinner are always recommended. Some places are not open on Sunday so be mindful of that.

Amazing place, highly recommend.
Amazing place, highly recommend. We took the cog railway to the Gornergrat and the cable car to the small Matternhorn. Beautiful views.
Classic breakfast - selection: salami, ham, cheeses, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, cocoa, jams, cornflakes, yogurts, eggs... . Transportation: we mostly walked, it's not a big resort. We went to the start of the cable car in a 6-seater electric taxi. You could also pay by credit card, the taxi driver was very accommodating.

Its mesmerizing and must visit place, especially during snowing time. Entire Zermatt town covered with snow is a must see. Walking around the old cobble stoned streets and the trip to Gornergrat in snowing time is a thrilling experience.

We stopped in Zermatt as a way station so that we coud take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz, after visting Geneva for a week. The Glacier Express is a fantastic, slow train ride across the country with amazing views of the Alps and so much more. While in Zermatt, we went up to Glacier Paradise (over 13,000 feet high) so get a close up view of the Matterhorn and Alps - simply stunning. The ice cave there is pretty cool, too, all puns intended.
We're not skiers and Zermatt is obviously a world-class ski resort, but there's plenty to do for non-skiers, great restaurants, and of course, the amazing scenery.
It's really worth a visit as well as a ride on the Express to see the countryside. (If you're a couple, go first class and get the single seats facing each other with a table in between. Skip the meal though - it was lousy and served way too early because they have so many to serve - in our case, chicken tetrazzini at 11a.m. Not ideal. Just bring some good food on with you, and order cappuccinos or drinks on board if you want - there's service at the seats.)
(The attached photos are from Glacier Paradise and it's ice cave.)
I seldom give any reviews unless it is worthy. And I have stayed at so many hotels of any sizes. This place is by far the best of the best hotels in the way of impeccable cleanliness, above beyond customers service and the authenticity of caring. The hotel has very beautiful decors that are put together with love and passion. Beautifully designed throughout the entire hotel.
It is such a wonderful pleasure of staying at the Hotel Walliserhof in Zermatt. Fully recommended!
Keep up the good work team WALLISERHOF 👏
I wished we stayed longer here as the room was the largest and most comfortable for our family of 4 amongst the different hotels we stayed at during our holiday in Switzerland. The 2 bedrooms are separated from the living and dining area, so there is more privacy.
It is a 5 min walk away from the Zermatt train station. We took the opportunity to walk through the town to get to the base station to travel up to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The walk took no more than 20 mins. On the way back, we hopped into a bus.
Really great location! Just a few minutes walk from the station - we saw quite a few other people walking uphill to their hotels so it was really nice to walk just a few mins and be there.
Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and clean, we loved the fire in the evening.
But the best part was the Spa - such a calming, wonderful space to relax in after a morning of hiking, or to sit in the sun after a busy day.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zermatt.
Best of Zermatt. We are not used to see satisfying hotels serving with many employees. Mirabeau was exceptional with its staff👍🏻. Location is super, close to center, Gornegrat Bahn and Sunnega station to reach mountain. Both restaurants, Marie’s Deli and L'EPICURE are perfect. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Night housekeeping service refreshes the ambiance 💫. Spa and indoor pool are great. the hydro massage in the pool and jacuzzi are very strong and relaxing after ski. We will come again.
Everything was amazing during our stay! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a warm and inviting lobby with friendly faces to check us in and assist with our luggage. Our rooms were ultra-clean and well appointed, both with perfect little balconies with views of the village. The family hosts, Michele, Thor and Luca, are truly wonderful and attentive owners who go above and beyond to accommodate their guests! I cannot wait to return to Zermatt and stay at Hotel Romantica again!!
This hotel had the best customer service I have ever experienced in Switzerland. Not only were the staff super friendly and helpful, but they always offered support before it was asked. Beautiful views and a stunning outdoor jacuzzi next to a waterfall. Exceptional breakfast for a small, boutique hotel with great service. They upgraded my room giving me excellent views of the Matterhorn. I enjoyed my stay very much and would totally recommend.
The breakfast, spa and service was all excellent. The room was a fine size for my two children and me; had a nice bathroom and an appropriate amount of linens. Also, the ski locker in the hotel was outstanding. Very nice to be able to hang your boots, gloves, etc. in an air circulating environment so everything is dry the next day. Overall a great experience and we'll definitely be staying here again when we return to Zermatt.
This is a beautiful hotel from the moment you walk in through the door. It was the best we stayed in during our 10 day stay in Switzerland.
The bedrooms are very tastefully done and it's a joy to spend time in the room.
The bar area is great to sit and relax and has again been decorated in a warm, welcoming style.
There is a good selection on the breakfast buffet.
Exceptional hotel! The experience starts when the hotel transfer from the train station to the hotel. We were welcome with welcome drinks. All the staff are super friendly and helpful especially check in counter. The breakfast spread is the best for my entire Switzerland trip. I chosen the room with Zermatt view and the view is magnificent.
This hotel was sensational. Very conveniently located, central to everything in town, staff will also pick you up/ drop you off at the station/taxi rank.
Breakfast is included and was the best breakfast with the most international catering, that we’ve had so far in Switzerland.
Would highly recommend.
The hotel was perfect, good view to matterhorn mountain, the breakfast was perfect.
MOST IMPORTANT thing that its very safe place
The staff was very friendly and helpful specially Monika ,Krista ,and waitress. They give me good impression of Zermatt.
I WILL definitely come again with family and friends.
location. views of the matterhorn. food. it’s luxury but is not pretentious. the staff is great. the spa is awesome. the bowling. the facilities for kids. this is without a doubt the best mountain accommodation i’ve ever visited. this is a very unique place and an unforgettable experience.
This is one of the best hotel through my trips in Europe, the friendly staff, the location, the facilities, the view from the room, the size of the room, the breakfast and everything ✨would like to stay there again if we going back to Zermatt.
Everything except for the room is a little too small but the view of Matterhorn from the room beats it. The hotel manager is very personal and friendly, the breakfast is one of the best that we had in Switzerland.
Look no further!!! Best hotel we stayed at in Switzerland. We were here for 14 days but for zermatt, this was the best place! Nice and spacious rooms. It’s bright and clean! Modern! Location is 10!!!!
The location of the hotel was great, easy walk distance from the train, ski resort and most of the shops in Zermatt. Breakfast was good and they offered a tea time with free tea/coffee and pastries.
