The Rive Sud is a beautiful family-run bed & breakfast in walking distance to the charming little town of Chinon. It is located near the bike route "la Loire à Vélo". All rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. We could leave our bicycles in safe shelter on the premises. Breakfast is lovely with homemade yogurt, fresh bread and viennoiseries. Rudy and Mathieu are very nice and happy to help finding a good restaurant nearby. They did everything to make our stay an unforgettable experience - thank you so much for your hospitality!

Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/fortress ruins on small streets that are still used in the daily lives of its’ residents. Although old, it is lively and offers many restaurants and shops for any needs you may have. Rather a charming, old city.

The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history.
The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history. The old town was very picturesque with some excellent restaurants. A lot of climbing although there is a lift from the lower town to the fortress. A good range of shops, cafes and bars.

Chinon has the feel of a village.
Chinon has the feel of a village. It is not that small, but there is a sense of security and ample access to food, wine, and services all reached on foot. There is no need to use a car in town. The weekly market is vey large and we easily reached it on foot even though is was near the opposite end of the town from our apartment. The climb (many steps) to the fortress is well worth the effort but there is also a free elevator provided by the town. If you want to comprehend how nice it is, visit busy Saumur which is full of traffic, stop lights, priorité a droit, steep roads, and noise.

Chinon is a charming town. Good size, not too small and full of exceptional restaurants. Close to many wineries and Chateaus.b we ate at Les Annes 30 and Table de La Jeanne. Both of them were really good.

Architecture (limestone) unchanged for centuries, elsewhere troglodyte constructions. Historic castle. Numerous restaurants (especially Hotel de la Paix). Easy access to other Chateaux de la Loire, great atmosphere.
We stayed in this charming place during our honeymoon and it was very nice! The room is in a converted medieval barn: it is very spacious, decorated with style and care, and features two separate sitting areas. The breakfast was more than ample - with plenty of options to choose from - one of the best we had in France. What makes the place really special is its owners - Vero and Ronan. To give only one example: Vero kindly did our laundry for us and didn't even charge for it! Overall, an unforgettable experience!
The hotel has just been redecorated during Covid and is under new ownership. The couple were very welcoming and provided a good breakfast. Although the hotel is on the other side of the river from the old town of Chinon, it was not a problem as it is close to the bridge and only a short walk. There did not seem to be many hotels in the old part. Chinon is a beautiful ancient town and well worth a visit. There was even a small beach on the riverside close to the hotel if you have children.
The location is particularly good for exploring Chinon on foot and as a bonus is directly opposite the river. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and our room was in a small private courtyard a few metres from the main building, which we particularly liked. Breakfast was good, bread and croissants, etc, in the main building with various additional options available and as much tea and coffee as you want. We would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone we knew.
Our stay at Nature & Chateaux exceeded our expectations in every way! The accommodation was a full-service apartment complete with a large fridge, cooking utensils and a dishwasher. The hotel is truly in the heart of the old city with a view of the charming cobble-stone streets right from the apartment. The unit was clean, spacious, and super comfortable. Accessing the room was easy and communication with the host was very smooth. I highly recommend this booking!!
The 2 bedroomed house, on 2 floors, was ideal for our 4 day stay near Chinon. It is very well equipped and spacious. Parking right outside the front door is convenient and secure. The recently refitted shower room is particularly good.
The host, Maurice, was charming and very helpful. The accommodations were unique and comfortable. Historic setting and renovation. Excellent breakfast. I would definitely recommend staying here if visiting Chinon.
The welcome was extremely warm and staff was helpful. I was so impressed with how well-kept and cared-for the hotel was. Breakfast was unusually good as well. Overall, I felt it was a tremendous value for money.
We had a wonderful stay at Hôtel Diderot. The space is beautifully decorated, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious, complete with freshly pressed apple juice and homemade jams.
The host was very friendly, the facilities were clean and generous. Breakfast was excellent with a wide ranging buffet. The hotel was ideally placed to explore Chinon on foot. Excellent restaurant close by.
We loved our stay at Nature & Chateau. The apartment was in the centre of Chinon, easy walk to everything. Lovely views of the medieval town from all windows. Very clean and comfortable
Beautiful property, Chinon was minutes away by car. Host had excellent recommendations, room was quiet and comfortable. Host was always available for any questions or assistance.
The apartment is in a fantastic location, it was charming, clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved it and we would definitely stay there again if we were in Chinon!
Very French ( well it is in France !) Clean , smart room, very comfortable, extremely helpful host . The best organic locally sourced breakfast and good location
The location was very near the chateau and it was easy to get into the centre of town. The gite is in the owner’s garden but there is plenty of privacy.
I had a suite and it was fabulous! So nice to have a sitting area and a balcony! Also, the location of the hotel is great, just a short walk into town!
