Wonderful small hotel in a renovated old house. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and it was the best dinner we had at a restaurant in three week's Portugal (other hotels also had great restaurants but this one was also very affordable for the quality we got). The breakfast was rather intimate and this small hotel cannot offer big buffets like a bigger hotel but it was still among the best breakfasts we had in three weeks in Portugal because it had enough variety and top quality. The terarace and pool have great views. We had a big room which was perfect for us as a family of four.

The atmosphere was great. The staff was excellent, friendly, sincere, welcoming, and always willing to help. Seeing the beautiful horses galloping next to the room was truly amazing. Breakfast in the dining room was filled with fresh fruits from the farm and great tasting breads. Dinner was amazing with terrific wines from the farm both full bodied and light. Even the vegetarian options were perfect.

Casas da Lapa is a modern hotel ideally situated on a hill top, inside the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela. It is located within a typical mountain village, Lapa dos Dinheiros. I think it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment we were greeted with a porto tonic, to an amazing dining experience and everything else in between - it was perfect. It's a bit of a ride up the hill to reach the hotel but once you are there you will be surprised why you've never came there before. Peaceful, beautiful and you can tell everything in there has been done with love to every detail.
